Passover (Lord’s Supper) & Feet Washing

We believe the Bible teachers the old Jewish Passover has been replaced under the New Covenant with the Lord’s Supper, which is the body and blood of Jesus.  “For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us” (I Corinthians 5:7; Mark 14:22-24).  This ordinance is both natural and spiritual.

We believe this ordinance is to be observed once each year and it should be with believers only.  God said concerning this Passover under the Law…

“and this shall be unto you for a memorial, and ye shall keep it a feast of the Lord throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance forever” – Exodus 12:14

The Passover services should include only those who have examined themselves and are prepared spiritually to receive the body and blood of Jesus (I Corinthians 11:28).

We believe the bread and wine, when blessed, become the body and blood of the Lord.  We must remember while they were eating the Passover in the upper room that Jesus took bread and blessed it and break it and gave it to them and said, “This is my body” (Mark 14:22), and likewise the cup and said, “This is my blood” (Mark 14:24).  The Bible does not teach the unleavened bread nor the wine were emblems or symbols.  Jesus said, “This is my body” and “This is my blood” (Luke 22:19; I Corinthians 11:24,25; John 6:53-55).

We believe feet washing is an ordinance that is attached to the Lord’s Supper and is to be observed during the same service (John 13:4-17).
