We believe that certain matters concerning the end times are subject to interpretation. Therefore, this is our general statement regarding these issues. We believe that the time of our Lord’s return is drawing near (I Timothy, 4:1-3; II Timothy 3:1-5, Matthew 24). This day will come as a “thief in the night” to unbelievers, but believers will be watching and waiting for His coming even though “of that day and hour knoweth no man” (I Thessalonians 5:4-6; II Thessalonians 2:1-3,7; Matthew 24:36).
We believe that a time of tribulation is coming “such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time” (Matthew 24:21). Jesus will return in person to take away His people and God will pour out his wrath upon the earth (Romans 8:31; Colossians 3:12; Matthew 24:24,13; Revelation 7:14; Revelation 10:7; I Corinthians 15:51, 52; Daniel 12:12; Revelation 11:15-18).
There will be a period of a thousand years of “peace on earth and goodwill toward men”, often called the millenium, in which Satan will be bound and the church will rule and reign with the Lord right on earth (Revelation 20:1-5). Following this will be the final judgement, or White Throne Judgement (Revelation 20:11-12). At this time there will be resurrection of the dead, and those whose names are not found in the Book of Life shall be cast into the lake of fire, burning with brimstone, which God has prepared for the devil and his angels, Satan himself being cast in first (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:7, 15, 21:8). And whose names are found will inherit everlasting life in Heaven with Jesus (Revelation 21:7, 9-27).
